ABOUT

OUR STORY

Smoky Mountain Christian Camp was brought into existence in 1976. Camp weeks had previously taken place at Johnson Bible College, which is now Johnson University. The desire came to take the weeks of camp off of the College grounds, so the Smoky Mountain Men's Fellowship researched and decided to purchase land in Coker Creek, TN; where the camp continues to thrive. Albert Dickson was the first to act as the manager of the camp. Other managers included brief stints by David Poe, Dale Peterson, Jim Gaither, and Scott Branson. Bill Clark became the camp manager in 1990 and stayed full time at the camp until 2012. Billy Clark, Bill Clark's son, came onto the staff full time in 1996 and is the current camp manager. He lives on campus with his wife Jenni along with his two daughters Meagan and Jewelia. In 2022 Bobby Braziel was brought on as the assistant manager (Interim) to help Billy manage and operate the growing ministry. In 2023, Bobby was voted on as the full-time Assistant Manager. Our Staff and board of Directors are passionate and driven about making SMCC an amazing place to experience the love of God through his creation.

OUR VISION

Smoky Mountain Christian Camp exists to glorify God and to advance His kingdom by providing churches, missions organizations, and other individuals and groups with a high quality venue for summer camp programs, spiritual retreats, worship services, meetings, and other team building events. More simply: We provide a great place for God to do amazing things.

To that end, our facilities are designed and maintained to facilitate:

1) Solitude, retreat, and reflection

2) Spiritual and physical education and challenges

3) Evangelistic and benevolent services and activities

4) Unique, focused worship experiences

While SMCC does not seek to limit the use of its facilities to churches and organizations within the Restoration Movement, it does

1) actively promote the churches and organizations within said movement, and

2) reserve the right to refuse use by organizations and individuals who oppose the most central elements of our faith.

These elements include belief in the Bible as the inspired Word of God; salvation and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit attained through faith, repentance and baptism and leading to a life of obedience to all Jesus’ teachings; a passion for active, worldwide
