Friends Of The Camp
Friends of the camp are incividuals who give at least $10 per month to the camp to help make the camp affordable for kids to come to camp, and groups to use the camp.Over thirty years ago the Christian Churches in the area, which are a group of non-denominational churches based strictly on the Bible only, decided to purchase land for youth to attend summer camp sessions. At that time the camp was used only for summer camp experiences. There were only two buildings at that time, one of which was a barn which was not used. Since that time, with the dedication of camp administrators passionate for teaching youth about Christ, the Lord has multiplied the efforts and money which was first given to start the camp. The camp now has increased in programs, in usage, and in buildings. We now use the facilities not only during the summer, but also for retreat groups the rest of the year. Our programs have included summer camp as it was originally designed for; wilderness camp programs; and retreat programs which include adventure packages. The additional buildings include a kitchen/dining hall, chapel, roof over basketball court, dorm units, chapel, and 3 cabins. Through God’s provision more has been done at the camp than could be done by human efforts. Quite honestly, the Christian churches in the area could not afford to fund the camp enough to do all that it is doing. The only way to do everything the camp wants to do and yet keep it affordable for individuals and groups is through so many individuals who are a part of this ministry. Our success is on account of individuals who give both of their finances and their service, and the Lord has multiplied. The camp is doing very much in ministry and still has the ability to be much more. The potential is there. We continue to dream, sacrifice, and work to reach out to the community, the region, and the world. We need as many as possibly can to be a part of this ministry with us. We thank you for doing all you can in this ministry and know that it is blessing many lives. God is Good, and He is the blessing to the lives who come to Smoky Mountain Christian Camp.
